Yesterday, a reporter learned from the Shanghai Municipal Food and Drug Administration that following the exposure by the State Food and Drug Administration of 18 cosmetics, including "Dongyang Flower Whitening Moisturizing Face Mask," containing excessive amounts of banned or restricted toxic substances, the bureau conducted a thorough investigation of the cosmetics market in Shanghai, and all related products were removed from shelves and sealed. Currently, no complaints or adverse reaction reports related to the exposed cosmetics have been received.

Last night, a reporter confirmed with Shanghai Carrefour that, following a notice from the China region, the Dongyang Flower Fruit Multivitamin Whitening Moisturizing Face Mask (three-piece set) (batch number FBF114) has been removed from shelves nationwide. The relevant person in charge of the Shanghai Municipal Food and Drug Administration reminded citizens to promptly report any illegal products found to the management department.

Two cosmetics are labeled as being related to Shanghai

After reviewing the list published by the State Food and Drug Administration, the reporter found that the problematic cosmetics in this inspection were mainly whitening and freckle-removing products. Of the 18 cosmetics, two indicated a connection to Shanghai. Among them, a Dongyang Flower Whitening Moisturizing Face Mask (23g/piece), batch number/production date FBF114, produced by Jiangsu Dongyang Flower Cosmetics Co., Ltd. on behalf of Shanghai Dongyang Flower Cosmetics Co., Ltd., did not meet the relevant standards, with the non-conforming item being hydroquinone. Additionally, Yu Chun Whitening Freckle-Removing Cream (batch number/production date P10006, 14g/bottle), listed as produced by "Shanghai Yuli Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Xuanzhijie Cosmetics Manufacturing Co., Ltd.", did not meet the standards, with the non-conforming item being mercury.

Dongyang Flower claims no violation

Regarding the exposure, a media outlet cited an "internal official statement" provided by a staff member of the Dongyang Flower official online store, stating: "All of the company's products undergo strict safety risk assessments and safety testing in accordance with relevant national laws and regulations before research and development, production, and launch. All products comply with relevant national laws and regulations. The company has not purchased any raw materials banned by the state, and has not added any banned raw materials to this product. Furthermore, the raw materials used in the formula do not contain any banned raw materials, and the production process is safe and reliable."

After investigation by the relevant departments, it was found that the "Dongyang Flower Whitening Moisturizing Face Mask" was produced in Jiangsu and the operating company is located in Shanghai. Xuanzhijie Cosmetics Manufacturing Co., Ltd. stated that it has never produced Yu Chun Whitening Freckle-Removing Cream, and the non-compliant cosmetics are suspected to be counterfeit products.

Shanghai also conducted tests on cosmetics for various easily added illegal ingredients, including antibiotics and heavy metals such as mercury.
